The Florida Bar YLD, ABA Young Lawyers Section, FEMA, and other legal aid organizations, are soliciting volunteers to help provide basic legal services for low-income individuals affected by the storm. Attorney volunteers assist by returning calls placed to a toll-free hotline providing legal and non-legal assistance to callers. The most pressing need is for volunteers to return calls. Please click on the link to the Florida Bar YLD Disaster Relief – FEMA Hotline to sign up and for more information about the program.

Celebrate the 30th anniversary of the In the Company of Women awards by nominating an outstanding woman leader, now through October 20th. The In the Company of Women award recognizes Miami-Dade's women leaders and commemorates Women's History Month. Do you know an amazing woman? If so, her name may be added to the list of trailblazers who started a movement to better this community through their volunteer service, profession or leadership roles. Women like Marjory Stoneman Douglas, Yvonne Santa Maria, Athalie Range, Elizabeth Virrick and Alice Wainwright who helped pave new paths for women; or women like Ann Bishop, Cheryl Brownstein-Santiago, Gloria Estefan, Gill Freeman, Carrie Meek, Queen Chiku N’gozi, Sister Jeanne O’Laughlin, Maria Elvira Salazar and Pam Saulsby for their contributions to women's progress. Please consider nominating a friend or a colleague. Nominations may be made online or by mail using the pdf form.
