Greetings!

Spring has officially arrived – at least for most of the country! Hopefully for each of you its arrival brings with it a sense of renewal – a sense of new opportunities, possibilities, ideas, projects and more.

For GSCBWLA, Spring ushered in our dynamic, newly-elected Officers and Board of Directors, who will be led by 2018-19 GSCBWLA President Melba Pearson-Mecham.  With them comes new energy and continuing focus on our mission of serving you and the community at large. Congratulations to each of them, including our new President-Elect Brendalyn Edwards!  We look forward to another amazing year!

On April 21st, the opportunities to serve continue with our Rainmakers Academy Session at STU Law where our presenters share their lessons learned and best practices in their legal journeys.  Once you get those sage insights, come share them at our Brims, Bowties & Brunch fundraiser benefitting our Gwen Cherry Fellowship at Legal Services of Greater Miami on April 22nd at Gulfstream Park.  You can also purchase your tickets to the 2018 GSCBWLA Board Installation &Awards Program starting April 23rd.  We’ll see you at Lillie C. Evans Elementary on April 27th for our final mentoring session of the school year.  Our LCE work is critical in inspiring the next generation to envision a brighter future.

We’re also honored to support the Women’s Fund – Power of the Purse Luncheon on April 27th.  For those of you mentoring law students, encourage them to apply for our annual Book Awards and our GSCBWLA Legal Services Fellowship starting May 1st.

On May 3rd, we’ll co-host the Joint VBA Mixer at Tap 42 (Miami).  Then we’ll see you on May 11th, at the 60th Anniversary of National Law Day at the North Dade Justice Center.  Stay tuned too for an exciting screening of “RBG”, the award-winning film on the consequential life and legal legacy of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Our Spring itinerary is filled with chances to get out and get involved.  With great anticipation, we look forward to seeing you!

In Service,

Nikki Lewis Simon

GSCBWLA President
