Practical Law is looking for a self-starter, driven to work on cutting edge products for the legal market to join our editorial team. The ideal candidate has experience as a transactional associate in a law firm or has done equivalent work at Practical Law and has comfort working across a broad range of legal issues and practice areas in the US. A passion for innovation and desire to work in legal technology and publishing are a must. This role can be remote.
About the Role
In this opportunity as Senior Associate Editor - Editorial Innovation you will be responsible for reading, analyzing, evaluating, and extracting insights from agreements across multiple US practice areas and bringing those insights to bear in our market-leading products. Working with our expert attorney editors and development teams, primary responsibilities include:
Reviewing agreements, including commercial agreements, lease and purchase agreements, merger and acquisition agreements, and other agreements to identify data that reflect current market trends.
Provide guidance for the architecture, development, testing, and implementation of artificial intelligence models and validate that the final approach satisfies defined requirements.
Extensive training of artificial intelligence models, including annotating documents to build training data and grade results.
Providing support to the editorial and product management teams on new and evolving product initiatives as required.
Providing substantive editorial expertise for additional tasks and projects across Editorial.
About You
You're a fit for the role of Senior Associate Editor - Editorial Innovation if your background includes:
J.D. from an accredited institution and licensed to practice law
Two or more years' experience in a law firm and/or in a Practical Law editorial role with relevant experience, including two years of experience in one or more US transactional areas of practice such as M&A, securities, real estate, or commercial contracting.
A working understanding of one or more transactional practice areas.
Experience with analyzing and drafting transactional documents.
Familiarity with corporate documents, the EDGAR database, and overall corporate transaction process.
Analytical and research skills and ability to identify key information from sources.
Ability to organize and present information in a clear and structured manner.
Ability to work efficiently and within deadlines and communicate effectively across Practical Law practice areas and teams.
A passion for developing and applying legal technology to solve our customers’ problems.
Understands business and customer needs to meet objectives and improve user experience and access to relevant Practical Law resources.
Proficiency in and familiarity with Microsoft Office 365.
Ability to work flexibly in an agile product development environment.
